These works were completed between 1990 and 1992. They are the result of an attempt to re-examine the relationship between printing plate and the print itself, the negative and the positive, in order to reconsider some essential aspects of the graphic medium - overlapping, reversing, mirroring and multiplying forms.
Plates (negatives) were made either on zinc (as aquatint) or on a cardboard base adding various materials (including lacquer, polyester filling, acrylic base, carbon powder, aluminium oxide).
The prints were made using intaglio technique, with one plate used for all levels of colour. In these works both plate and print, positive and negative, are literally pasted together to form one artistic whole.
Techniques: Etching; Collography; Litho (polyester plates)
